Executive summary
Participants attending the workshop included: Department of Industry and Trade (DOIT), EVN, District People’s Committees, Department of Science and Technology (DOST), Department of Construction (DOC), building/rooftop managers/owners.
Workshop consisted of 4 parts: speech of DOIT representative; speech of World Bank project representative; presentation of consultant team leader (the Center for Environmental Fluid Dynamics – CEFD); and an open discussion with stakeholders.
The workshop was conducted successfully with the participation of more than 25 agencies and enterprises. The workshop ended with fruitful and constructive discussions between the DOIT, EVN, World Bank, the consultant and the owners/managers of selected buildings/rooftops. The buildings/rooftops owners, after the meeting, have allowed the survey team to visit their rooftops for visual inspection and interview and some appointments were made.
Speech of DOIT representative
Meeting opening: Mr. Nguyen Phuong Dong – Vice-director of the Department of Industry and Trade (DOIT) gave a speech introducing the needs and benefits of renewable energy including solar PV for the HCMC, briefing introduction to the project and the difficulties of the previous survey. He also addressed the importance of the participation of stakeholders especially the building/rooftops’ owners/managers on the project level of success.
Speech of World Bank project representative
Mr. Tran Hong Ky, WB representative, introduced about World Bank Energy Programme, of which this project is the first phase. He mentioned several business models and some analysis of their capabilities on the Vietnam and HCMC context.
Presentation of consultant team leader of CEFD
The presentation of the consultant included 4 parts: introduction to the project, methods and technical approaches, main results and findings, difficulties of the survey why this meeting is important to the implementation of the incoming survey.
